10 habits to help you keep your home clean

Returning from work to a clean house or spending time in a clean and tidy interior is not only pleasant, but also good for mental and physical health. We believe that everyone can develop habits that will help to keep order every day, not just a couple of days after the general cleaning.

Habit #1: Put things in their places

The first thing to do is to determine a place for each item and group of items. For example, we know for sure that cups belong in the kitchen and socks in the closet or cupboard, but where to put books, magazines, glasses, keys, you need to decide for yourself. Too many unused or seasonal items? Send them to a special warehouse for storage, and their place take something more useful and necessary at the moment. Then the habit of returning things after use to the place you took them from will take root quickly.

Habit #2: Sort things before they go in the house

The fewer things in the house, the easier it is to keep things in order. Try not to bring home unnecessary items: the tenth mug, presented at work, can be left there in the kitchen, do not take home flyers and newspapers from the mailbox, the checks take pictures in the store and send immediately to the trash. And don’t duplicate things: if you buy a new iron or blender, get rid of the old one right away.

Habit #3: Clean a certain room every day

It’s not a great idea to spend a whole weekend cleaning. But setting aside 1-1.5 hours every day to clean a certain room is a realistic idea. Make a schedule: for example, on Monday – a day of cleanliness in the kitchen (wash fronts, appliance tray, remove excess from the countertop), Tuesday – to clean the living room (vacuum the couch, wipe the dust, disassemble the shelves), Wednesday – in the bathroom and so on.

Habit #4: Get the dirt right away

It’s a lot easier to clean up a fresh stain than a dried-on stain. The most “dangerous” areas are the cooktop and oven-they’re best wiped down with a damp cloth after use, not completely cooled down. Faucets should be cleaned with a dry rag after you turn off the water, so that no water residue is left behind. Do the same with shower enclosures with glass doors. Leave the washing machine open for a while after washing to let the moisture evaporate.

Habit No. 5: Make the most of your vacuum cleaner

With different attachments, you can remove not only trash on the floor, but also dust on bookshelves, on textile lampshades, heating radiators and sewer pipes, on the windowsill, in the folds of the sofa and chair, on the ledge. No thanks)

Habit No. 6: Keep household products close at hand

Make tidying up convenient: so you don’t have to go into the hallway for a quick clean in the bathroom, and you don’t have to go from the kitchen to the bathroom.

Habit No. 8: Brush and wash pets regularly

It’s best for dogs to wash their paws after every walk, otherwise there’s a risk that sand and fine earthy dust from their paw pads will end up all over the apartment. Haircuts, brushing should be regular to reduce the amount of hair near baseboards and on furniture.

Habit #9: Paying attention to the little things

It’s important to not only put things back where they belong, but to do it as nicely as possible. Do not just throw a towel on the bathroom rail, but straighten the folds, leave not a crumpled plaid and crumpled cushions on the couch, but stack textiles and return the cushions to their shape.

Habit #10: Delegate and Praise

Ask your family members to help you as much as they can. Remind them of the habits that are important to keeping your home clean and tidy. And don’t forget to praise them.
